Jose Antonio Hermida has raced today in the Ciclocross World Championships, held in the Czech village of Tabor. Hermida has got the 26th position.
Hermida has taken part today in the most important race of the year in the ciclocross scene. The freezing temperatures and the icy track have made of this competition a very demanding race. The Multivan-Merida rider has been 26th after battling in a race full of accidents.
“It has been a very complicated race. I am happy with the result, although I have a bittersweet feeling. I was positioned really back in the starting grid and this is a huge handicap in a race in which every second counts. I have been able to pass riders and get into the top 20, but I have broken a spoke in my rear wheel. I have switched my bike and I have pushed hard to get to a good position again. I was feeling really strong, but I have done mistakes in all laps due to the slippery track condictions”, explained Hermida minutes after the race.
Hermida has prooved again that he is a top level rider in any discipline he takes part in. Jose showed his racing spirit after valuing the ciclocross season results: “I have raced in many CX races, but my priority is the MTB season. When you find yourself among all those CX monsters, you get to think what would happen if I would focus completely in this discipline. Even being a secondary objective, it is a great honour to race in the most important competition of the year. I have had a lot of fun and I want to be there again next year. Now it is time to focus in the mountain bike season”.
