Jose Antonio Hermida raced yesterday in Ispaster, which was his last pre-World Championships test; Hermida was 4th.
Hermida is getting ready for the Ciclocross World Championships, that are being held this weekend in the Czech village of Tabor. Jose didn’t have his best day and finished just off the podium. “It has been a very tough race for me. I have’nt felt comfortable at any time. I have been up in front from the beginning, but with no real chances of fighting for the victory”, explained the rider from Puigcerdà after the race.
The silver medallist in the CX Spanish National Championships found those bad vibrations in “the demanding week I have had. I have been trainning hard to increase my shape and I have felt tired. Moreover, the long running sections were many, due to the muddy conditions; I have not felt that comfortable with so much running. However, this is part of ciclocross”, explained the Multivan-Merida rider.
Hermida will race this Sunday in the World Championships, competition where he will try to beat the 23rd position he got in last year’s Worlds. “These last days is time to get the fine tuning and assimilate the work done in the last weeks and try to be rested on Sunday. I am very excited about being in that starting grid with the best riders in the world”, comments Hermida.
