Hermida keeps on his way to preparing the two races where he wants to be at top level in the CX season. The first race in Belgian fields was held last tuesday in Azencros Loenhout, being part of the GvA Trophy. “The GvA series are even more difficult than the World Cups. In a World Cup there is a limit of riders per country. Here there is no limit. Yesterday there were 18 Belgian riders, 13 Dutch… What a level!”, explained the Multivan-Merida rider.

The race was a quality test, with different negative circumstances that were welcome to harden the Catalan rider: muddy ground, cold temperatures, a high level of riders and a very rear psition in the starting grid. Hermida did not feel that comfortable, but fighted and gave his best, knowing that this was a perfect trainning session. “I am happy, but I have suffered a lot, mainly because of the cold weather. I was positioned very far behind and the circuit was not that good for advancing competitors. However, I have given my best and I have been passing riders all through the race. With two laps to go, I have suffered a small crisis, but I have been able to overcome those moments. It has been a good day to get different feelings of my body”, summarizes Hermida a race in which he has been able to climb to the 28th position.

The second race, held last Wednesday, was a C2 race in Bredene. The track was quite flat, although the mud was much more liquid and was easier to ride than the day before. The Multivan-Merida rode up in front from the beginning and he was able to finish in 5th position. “I have felt much more comfortable than yesterday, stronger, pushing hard and feeling much better technically. I have started around 10th position and I have been able to get to the top 5”, says Jose.

Hermida will not race until the next Sunday the 10th, where he will take part in the CX National Spanish Championships. Hermida will try to get his 3rd National title out of 4 times he has raced this Champs.

Hermida wants to take the opportunity to wish the best to all the cycling community in the 2010.
