Hermida keeps his ascending shape after the deserved winter holidays, focused in the ciclocross discipline and preparing the coming CX World Champisonships. After his 3 victories in the already finished Spanish Cup, the Multivan-Merida rider left the tough winter of the Cerdanya to travel to Valencia to take part in the Ciclocross Internacional de Valencia.

The race has been tough and the winner has not been clarified until the last turn. “We were together in a group until there were around 6 or 7 laps left to go. At that moment, Larrinaga and I decided to push a little bit harder to clarify the situation. We have gone away alone and we have ridden the last laps together”, commented Hermida.

The final kilometers have been exciting, with an inspirated Hermida that took out his class and technical skills on any bike he rides. “There was quite a high obstacle, of around half a meter, I think. I had jumped over it while trainning, but during the race, my competitors were stepping out their bikes to get over it, so I decided to keep that card, just in case I could need it. And I needed it in the end. In the last lap, I have faced that area in first position and I have jumped over the barrier. This has allowed me to get some seconds on Larri and take the victory”, explained the winner of the race.

Hermida will keep on taking part in CX races in order to prepare the Spanish National Championships and to get points that may take him to a better starting grid in the World Championships, in case he is selected by the national coach.
