It is just a couple of weeks that Hermida is back to trainning but the Multivan-Merida rider has decided to participate in the two CX Spanish Cups, 4th and 5th races of this Championship. On Saturday’s race, Hermida did not have a great day. A few meters after the start, his chain went over his bigger sprocket and the rider from Puigcerdà had to stop to take his rear wheel out and back again, losing contact with the leading group. After that, Hermida pushed forward full speed until he suffered a front flat tire that slowed him down once again. However, and after changing his bike, the brave Catalan rider could climb to a great final 6th position.

On Sunday’s race, things went much better than the previous day. The two-times CX Spanish National Champion showed his class and could stay in the 3-men leading group during the whole race. Laps went by and in the last turn, in the beach sand area, Hermida could not stay with the other two riders and lost his chances of fighting for the victory. Finally, third.

“I am happy. Those two races have been a good trainning session. Yesterday I felt quite well if we keep in mind that I have just trainned for a few days; but the technical problems frustrated any chance of being on the podium. Today I have been able to give my best, but in the beach zone, Javier and Isaac have increased the pace and I had no chance of following them, It is normal, I am just starting. It is frustrating, though, when you see yourself up in front, but I have to keep in mind that I have just started to pedal again after my holidays”, explained the Multivan-Merida rider.

The championship is leaded by Javier Ruiz de Larrinaga, with 110 points, while Isaac Suárez has 95 and Hermida 76.
