Jose Antonio Hermida has enjoyed two weeks of holidays. After this deserved and relaxed part of the year, the moment to start preparing the 2010 season has arrived; a season in which the Multivan-Merida rider will try to do such a successful season as in 2009.
Two weeks of holidays, fifteen days that have flown away very fast. Hermida ended his racing season with two victories in a row in the first two rounds of the Spanish Ciclocross Cups. To this, we have to add a mountain bike season where he has won two World Cups and has ended second in the final overall standings, apart from being second in the European Championships, and being Spanish National Champion.
Hermida has enjoyed this relaxed time, but he got a phonecall from his trainner yesterday : “I got a phone call from my trainner, Kim Forteza, and he told me that it was time to get ready and that I am starting to ride my bike at the end of this week. These days I have had the chance to rest and all my physical exercise has been reduced to long walks”.
Thus, Hermida will jump on his Merida to start pedalling again, the first step in the way to preparing the 2010 season that he faces with a huge enthusiasm: “I am still a junior. I get nervous before certain races and it is hard for me to sleep the night before a competition I know I will be in front. The same when I am in this part of the year. I feel motivated and exicted just like in my first season”, explains Jose.
To all this motivation, we have to add the arrival of his second child, Sandra, who was born on Saturday 24th early in the morning. “I am very happy. My wife Sandra is a real champion. Everything went fine and we could leave the hospital in a couple of days. Perfect!”, pointed out the rider from Puigcerdà.
