Hermida’s Multivan-Merida teammate, Milatz Moritz, was positioned in second place in the overall of the Bundesliga and needed to win the race or finish in front of the current leader, Fabian Giger,in order to take the overall classification. Hermida travelled to Germany in order to work for him and try to take away points of the current leader.

In the end, Milatz has won the race and has won the final overall classification, with the help of Hermida, who has stayed with Giger, being an annoying company for him. Hermida has decided to stop in the sixth of the eight laps, after some mechanical problems and after not feeling 100% phisycally, due to a very intense trainning week that has made him feel a little bit tired.

Hermida explained the race as “it has not been the best day in my career. We have just assembled a new set of cranks and we have had some chainsuck problems. But these races where there is nothing important in play are the right ones to test new material with the intensity and demand that only competition offers. Regardless of the mechanical problems, I have been in the group of the leader until I have decided to quit. Milatz was at that moment in front. My presence with Giger was going to annoy him, and so it has been; knowing that Moritz was in front and that I was with him, letting him the responsibility, has not helped the leader mentally. I am happy for Milatz. Now it is time to work hard for the Wolds”.

Hermida will not travel this weekend and will stay at home trainning. However, it is possible that he races in a race nearby as a good trainning towards the World Championships in Canberra.
