The Puigcerdá rider had to run 1.5 kilometres before reaching the technical area of the circuit where he changed his bike and began a frenetic pace, which despite his best efforts, did not win him a place at the podium, however if one thing was clear, it was that only a technical problem had made him fall behind. At the end of the race Hermida gained fifth place, however he easily won his place in the next world championships on the 1st of February, in Holland. Although this classification is not his speciality, he once again showed that once on a bike, he has class and style, and even more important, he never gives up the race.

On finishing the race, the MULTIVAN MERIDA rider told us “it was a shame, as I was in a tight struggle against Larrinaga. With only a lap and a half to go I felt something strange and I saw that the chain had broken, I thought that the race was over. I had to run quite a few metres carrying the bicycle, and after making the change I gained eighth position. ´I fought till the end like a bullet, i regained three positions but I was unable to gain a place on the podium. However I am very happy, as on the last lap I felt very well, when generally it is the most difficult part. The national coach me that I will be at National team for Holland, to the world championships, so now it’s time to rest and prepare for this race in the cathedral of ciclocross world cycling”.
