Hermida finished with a second place, behind his team-mate Ralf Naef. However the result was a matter of circumstance as both riders passed the finish line with their hands together. The route, heavy with roots, was located in a Biathlon stadium, where the cross country world championships will take place in 2009.   It was a short race, the organisers, knowing that the participants were at the very end of the season did not want to “burn out” the riders, and so they decided on a 5 circuit race on a 5.3 kilometre course.   Hermida has thus ended the final race of the 2008 season, although next week he will take part in the end of season, traditional “HERMIDA TERRITORY”, route, which runs through the countryside where the best Spanish cyclist of all times has done his training, and where the MULTIVAN MÉRIDA rider will leave the hard work to other mountain bike enthusiasts. José Antonio Hermida will be taking the opportunity to give his final farewell to the 2008 season, his own “end of the year” celebrations before taking some well-deserved holidays.
