This season his luck has left him but he is continuing with his fight. After recovering from his flu which prevented him from completing the race in Vall Nord he was once again prepared to face his competitors However his two punctures while ahead with the front runners stopped him from finishing the race in the top three. The first puncture on the second round hit him as he was challenging other top riders. He fell back to 30th position after running 1.5 kilometres before reaching the tech zone. Not one to give up easily, the current Spanish champion put his back into it and at round 6 was once again up at the front. But his luck once again ran out on him, and while up at the forefront of the race another puncture, this time on his rear wheel, sent him back to the end of the race. Hermida made another desperate attempt to regain his former position and was able to finish only five minutes after the winner. A resigned Hermida spoke to us soon after finishing the race. “What a season of bad luck, this time I had left the flu behind me and I felt like I did in Madrid, two punctures threw everything I worked for away. I was feeling great, especially after last week’s flu and I was up at the front and fighting. I am happy as I feel confident, two weeks away from the world championships. Let’s see if I can get rid of this bad luck which is following me this season”.
