José Antonio Hermida (MULTIVAN MERIDA) came to Madrid with a single objective in mind, to climb the podiium at the Casa de Campo. Luck however has been against him during the first two races in the World Cup in Houffalize and Offenburg, and he is hoping to put these episodes aside and make the most of a home venue, with the intention of gaining a position on the podium and celebrate the ocassion with Spanish fans.
The MULTIVAN MÉRIDA rider has put in his some hard work this week in order to reach his peak fitness on the road, as in his last race in Germany. Hermida will continue with his own personal objective to “continue improving over the month and a half from the start of the World Cup and keep going, little by little up to the end.”
José Antonio recognises that the race in Madrid has a motivation of its own “In Offenburg there were many people supporting me because they know the team, which is German, but that was nothing compared to those who are going to be there for me at La Casa de Campo. Madrid has always shown support for mountain biking and especially for me. The truch is that the enthusiasm of the fans is a real boost.”
The elite men’s race will take place next Sunday after 12.30. However the number of laps to bemade on the circuit will not be decided until Saturday afternoon after the briefing with the team managers.
